Good afternoon Midway families,

Happy Thursday!  We are well into our second full week of remote learning, and it has been such a joy to see all of your students working hard in our new setting.  We are continuing to see strong attendance in daily Zooms, as well as lots of great work being completed in Seesaw.  If you have any questions, need tech help, or if we can support in any way, please let us know.  We will also be having a virtual evening coffee with the principal & assistant principal next Thursday, 10/1, from 5 – 6 PM.

Next week, students in grades 1-5 will begin taking the iReady test.  There is one test in reading and one test in math.  Each grade level has different testing days and times, which will be clearly marked on your student’s daily schedule.  Your child’s teacher will also be talking with them about the iReady diagnostic in class.

  • iReady Family Video: Please watch the following video (you can choose English or Spanish) for information about the iReady test and how to prepare your student on testing day: https://www.curriculumassociates.com/teaching-learning-2020/home-assessment-family-support
  • Non-Touchscreen Chromebook Exchange: Teachers will be asking students tomorrow whether they have a touchscreen Chromebook or not.  If your student uses a Midway Chromebook that does not have a touchscreen, the iReady test may not work as well, so we will be having a computer exchange tomorrow (9/25), Monday (9/28), Tuesday (9/29), and Wednesday (9/30) from 12–4:15 PM at Midway.
  • Starting 10/01/2020
    • Still need a device or haven't picked up instructional materials? Pick up at  Midway 8-9:30 or 3-3:30.
      • Office doors are locked so call in advance (206) 631-4400
    • If you have problems with your device you can take it to Pacific Middle school Mon-Fri 2:00-4:00
    • If you need help with login or schedules you can contact student support:
      • ashley.lefton@highlineschools.org (253) 693-8437

Our school nurse, Ms. Myers, has also shared the following information about upcoming immunization clinics in King County: https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/health/communicable-diseases/immunization/clinics.aspx

Thanks for all you are doing to support your children during this time.  We are so grateful for all of you, and are here to support you and your family.

With Gratitude,

Debbie Ellis, Principal
