  • 4th & 5th grade: Thursday, April 1st

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Times:

  • AM Session: Our AM session starts at 9:00 AM and you may drop off your child beginning at 8:55 AM.  Please make sure you have completed the student attestation for each child before dropping your child off or sending them on the bus.  Note: If you need help with the attestation, staff will be available at Midway beginning at 8:30 AM on our first day – Monday, March 22nd – to help you complete the form.  Pick-up for the AM session is at 11:15 AM.
  • PM Session: Our PM session starts at 1:45 PM and you may drop off your child beginning at 1:40 PM.  Please make sure you have completed the student attestation for each child before dropping your child off or sending them on the bus.  Note: If you need help with the attestation, staff will be available at Midway beginning at 1:15 PM on our first day – Monday,  March 22nd – to help you complete the form.  Pick-up for the PM session is at 4:00 PM.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Locations:

  • Cars:
    • Drop-Off: This year, we have moved our car drop off to the north parking lot (where buses used to go).  If you are dropping off a student, you will pull in to the parking lot and immediately take a right.  Here you will wait in line to check that your student attestations are complete, and then pull around the drop-off circle to drop your child off once the attestation is verified.  If the attestation is not complete, parents can pull into a parking space and scan a QR code to complete on site. For more information, watch our Midway Arrival Video.
    • Pick-Up: Pick-up for car riders will also be in the north parking lot.
  • Walkers:
    • Drop-Off: Walkers will be taken to the front of the school for arrival.  Here, someone will greet students and check off their attestation.  If the attestation is not complete, parents can scan a QR code and complete it on site. For more information, watch our Midway Arrival Video.
    • Pick-Up: Walkers will be picked-up in the north parking lot, not the front of the school.
  • Buses, Daycare Vans, and Taxis:
    • Drop-Off: All buses, vans, and taxis will drop-off at the front of the school.  Please make sure you have completed the attestation before your child leaves home.  They will be checked for the attestation before entering the building, and directed to our screening room in the library if no attestation is complete.
    • Pick-Up: Buses, vans, and taxis will also pick up at the front of the school.

We can’t wait to see our 2nd & 3rd graders on Monday and our 4th & 5th graders next month!  Please reach out to the school with any questions.

Hello Midway Families,

As you may have heard through district communication this morning, our start date of 3/1 for hybrid instruction has been postponed.  We do not yet have a new start date, but we will communicate with you as soon as it is known.  Below are a few important details to know as we continue.

  • Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade families – Your children will start in their new classes remotely this Monday, 3/1.  All students will be following a remote schedule similar to the one they have had all year.  Teachers will post new schedules in Seesaw for Monday morning.
  • 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families – Your children will remain in their current classes for now.  Our plan is to shift 3rd – 5th graders into their new classes once we go into hybrid instruction.  Once the date is known, we will communicate with you right away.
  • Seesaw Update – All students should be assigned to their correct Seesaw classroom by Monday morning, 3/1.  If you are having difficulty on Seesaw or your child doesn’t see his/her classes, try refreshing the page – this has usually helped us as we are making changes.
  • Q&A/Coffee with the Principal on Friday, 2/26 – We are cancelling tomorrow evening’s Coffee with the Principal as we do not expect to have more information about hybrid at that time.  We will still host a Coffee with the Principal open to all family members this Friday, 2/26 where we will answer your questions about hybrid instruction.  Zoom link is here: https://highlineschools.zoom.us/j/93314515609.
  • Daily Tech & Schedule Support on 2/25, 2/26, and 3/1 – If your child has any difficulty with Seesaw over the coming days or you need tech or other support, please join Midway staff members on Ms. Marrs’s Zoom here: https://highlineschools.zoom.us/j/4252770328

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to call or text principal Dr. Ellis (206-823-4056) or assistant principal Ms. Maine (206-887-6688).  We are in this together and here to support you.

Dear Midway Families,

Thank you to all of our families for consistently working with us during all of these challenges. We are hard at work to make a smooth transition for students and families when some students return to in person learning and other students remain learning virtually.

Return to In-Person Learning & Change of Teacher Updates

In order to accommodate the needs of all of our students, families, and staff, some of our students will need to change teachers. While we know that our teachers have formed a special bond with their students and families, we also feel confident that we will have a smooth transition to new teachers to set students up for a successful spring and end of the school year.

  • We have created a timeline and communication plan to support this transition:
    • Front office staff will be contacting families who will be starting in-person with teacher and time information (AM or PM session)
    • Teachers will be notifying families who will remain in virtual learning of their teacher assignment and teacher contact information
    • Students in K-2nd grade
      • Week of 2/22 - Transition activities and notification to families of teacher assignment
      • March 1st - Change of teacher (if needed)
        • Kindergarteners and first graders who have opted for in-person learning in the AM (9:00-11:15 AM) or PM (1:45-4:00 PM) will begin coming to school on March 1st
      • March 15th - 2nd and 3rd graders who have opted for in-person learning are expected to return
    • Students in 3rd-5th grade:
      • Week of 2/22 - Notification to families of teacher assignment
      • Week of 3/8 - Transition activities
      • March 15th - 2nd and 3rd graders who have opted for in-person learning are expected to return
      • March 29th – 4th and 5th graders who have opted for in-person learning are expected to return
  • Each grade level team is planning for transition activities the week before the transition (Week of 2/22 for K-2 & week of 3/8 for 3rd and 4th grade), including but not limited to:
    • Classroom meetings and/or Seesaw activities that provide students with an opportunity to share and process how they are feeling about a transition as well as discuss strategies for dealing with change
    • Introductory and fun activities with new teachers through Seesaw and Zoom
    • Celebrations with current class and welcoming celebrations with new class
