2024-25 Performance Report

Midway is proud of the many accomplishments of our students, staff and families during the 24-25 school year. 

We created a new Midway Chant and belief statement for our students: 

At Midway, we help each other and work as a team. We listen, share, and treat others kindly so everyone feels included. We believe it's awesome to be multilingual and learn new things every day!  

 En Midway, nos apoyamos mutuamente y trabajamos en equipo. Escuchamos, compartimos y tratamos a los demás con amabilidad para que todos se sientan incluidos. ¡Creemos que es maravilloso ser multilingüe y aprender cosas nuevas cada día!  

1. Family Engagement 

1. Our multicultural night attracted over 400 attendees and featured food from around the world and ten performances from three continents by staff, students and families from. 

2. The PTO also organized a fall game night and a winter literacy night along with fundraisers at the local McDonalds and the Mariners.  

3. Family Art Fridays in partnership with the Seattle Art Museum on every first Friday of the month were attended by over 200 families each month.  

4. Principals hosted monthly learning events for families called “Donuts with the Directores” focused on supporting learning at home.  

2. Academics 

1. Midway received recognition from the state for our growth in academics during the 23-24 school year. Only 16% of schools in the state receive this recognition.   

2. A majority of students are on track to be biliterate and bilingual based on the HPS biliteracy trajectory.  

3. All students received regular small group instruction in either English or Spanish based on their literacy needs. 

4. 14% of students grew from not on grade level to on grade level in mathematics.  

5. Students were taught mathematics in both English and Spanish throughout the year.  

6. 91% of 3rd-5th graders report that they understand what they are learning and why they are learning it.  

3. Social and Emotional Learning 

1. 87% of 3rd-5th graders report feeling that they have supportive relationships at school.  

2. 74% of 3rd-5th graders say that they learn how to make good choices for themselves and the community.  

3. All teachers implemented trauma-informed social emotional lessons and class meetings based on our work with Belong Partners. All students know the language of a “lid being flipped.” 

4. Partnerships and after school 

1. Afghan and Somali heritage groups once a week.  

2. Spanish club afterschool for students just learning Spanish. 

3. Girls on the Run 

4. AmericaScores helped us field a co-ed soccer team full of Poet-Athletes.
